Hannie.nu was purchased after saving up numerous wins from the Twitter trivia games that NameCheap hosted in December 2008 and March 2009. I had won thirteen registration credits ($9.69), gave two away, used one to switch Dottish to NameCheap, one for a renewal, and registered four new domains, leaving me with about $50 left in my account. I had been considering, since I had started a new job, putting a little extra in and buying this domain, but totally didn't feel comfortable parting with all of those registrations. Then, March came around and NameCheap surprised us all with another contest, this time only two weeks long instead of the prior month. I worked my butt off trying to win as many as I could so I would be able to comfortably register this with plenty to spare. I ended up winning plenty to register it with more registrations left than I knew what to do with, so I made the leap and bought my first .nu (Kya had purchased Squish).

To be honest, I had no idea what I wanted to do with it after I bought it. I started to browse websites I knew of of people with multiple domains to see what they did with them. I considered moving my blog, but decided against it as it just didn't fit right. Then I thought of moving my fanlistings, but that sounded like hell as I had, at that time, well over thirty. Finally, my mind went to the idea of a domain collective. I thought that was silly until I looked at my list of domains on NameCheap and realized how many I really did own. Also, I looked at all the registrations I still had and, knowing me, would eventually use for new sites and not renewals. Dumb, I know, but I love new names! They make life a bit more exciting and buying them definitely makes my adrenaline pump.

Eventually, this might become something more, however, I'm currently quite content with it. :)
